The Art Archive seeking Experienced Photo Researcher / Marketing Administrator
The Art Archive, a part of The Picture Desk Web site, is an online picture library with a specialized collection of fine art and historical images. Our New York office is currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced photo researcher to manage the photo research demands of our US and Canadian clients.

Position Description and Requirements
The position is responsible for fulfilling client photo requests from our in-house archive, cataloguing newly acquired images, and managing our database of client information. 

Candidate requirements include:

  • A degree in History or Art History
  • At least 3 years experience in photo research, image licensing or in a related field
  • Proficiency in a foreign language
  • Great organizational skills
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • A warm and friendly personal manner

The ideal candidate would be Mac proficient with a strong visual sense and a real love of pictures. Sales experience would be a major plus.

Masterfile: Director of Sales & Business Development

The Broad Strokes: Build revenues in North America.

The Challenge: Do it much faster than we could do it without you.

Management Responsibilities:

Provide leadership for a talented and experienced North American sales & BD group (25 people in four cities).

Expand the BD team in USA.

Manage and monitor sales activities.

Review the selling process, learn the systems, and initiate change wherever appropriate and practical.

Will require about one week travel per month

Requisite skills & qualities:

A strategic thinker.

Ability to lead and delegate responsibility effectively.

Excellent communication & presentation skills.

An obsession for quality, service and making money.


Management Experience:

At least 5 years sales management experience, preferably in a mid-sized, entrepreneurial company.

Setting sales strategy, measuring performance, achieving goals.

Experience in the stock photography industry would be an asset.

Compensation package commensurate with qualifications.
